Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.

2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic or sockpuppet.
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.

I dont know if this has been mentioned here before, but I did a search and did not find it, so here goes:
I found a PR 5 directory that is accepting links from Squidoo, for free. I believe that this is very rare. Oddly enough the name of the directory is Squid Links, but I do not see alot of Squidoo Lenses there:
http://www.squidlink.com/
It calls itself a "Premium Directory" and usually this means it will charge a fee. With a PR 5, I expect that this site will not be free for long.
If you know of good PR directories that are free and will accept Squidoo lenses, please post them below.
Note: If you do not yet, know PR = Google Page Rank. Google gives pages a rank from 0-10. 0 is worst and 10 is best. PR5 is very good. You can check a website's PR by downloading Google Toolbar or checking the website here:

I'll try it for a few sites, but be aware of the terms:

CSTR: Absolutely right. Almost every directory does this. WHENEVER you register for a directory, never give your normal email address or your email account will soon be full of spam. Always use a throw-away (FREE) account such as hotmail.
Another note: I just realized that this site will only allow one submission from the same domain per catagory. So, only one Squidoo lens per catagory.
Be sure to list your favorite directories that will allow Squidoo lense for free below.

Just a note, at Isle of Squid I don't touch your e-mail addys or any other information you submit and I never will
.
Nice find though LMP.
Cheers,
Captain

Edit: Sorry, this directory does have PageRank 5 after all - my Toolbar must have been broken.

Prior to a year and a half ago it seems that this site used to be a blog.

Hi Captain:
Thanks for the reminder about Isle of Squid. I love that directory. Your link didn't work though, so here it is again.
http://isleofsquid.com/
Does anyone else have directories, with PR that accept Squidoo lenses? There must be a few more out there.

I do have a Link Directory, but it doesn't have any PageRank yet. It accepts lens, hubs and pages from a few other similar sites.
And www.lensroll.com has some PageRank. Though it's more a Digg type site than a Link Directory. It is for Squidoo Lenses only.

Hi Glen:
Lensroll is a great site, been there and submitted. This is the first time I saw Squoogle, thanks for pointing it out. Looks like a nicely built directory. But it needs more links! Looks like most of the incoming links are from Squidu and a couple of forums. Without alot of good incoming links, I doubt it will ever get much PR. Any plans for that? If you can get some links, and it develops PR it will become an important resource for the Squidoo community.

I edited my previous post because it was completely wrong.
Anyway, I've submitted a couple lenses to SquidLink, and I'm waiting to see how they'll do. I don't generally submit lenses to directories because it's such hard work, especially if you have quite a few. But, I'm submitting some of my very best lenses to a few directories.
I actually have my own directory in the wings, which will automatically include all of your best lenses (no submission required). However, it's still not indexed by search engines, and doesn't have any PageRank yet. I'll let you know when it's ready.
This is a little off topic, but does anyone know of good directories to submit directories to? If we could improve the PageRank of our Squidoo Directories, everyone will benefit.

At the moment I'm more concerned about quality over quantity. And manually check all submissions.
Thankfully I haven't yet been bombarded with sub-standard lenses or bucket loads of spam.
So for now it's plodding along quietly, as I figure out the finer points of the directory software (enabling editors and setting permissions) I'll be able looking to spread the word and not get buried under an avalanche of submissions (and spam).

Straying a bit O/T, but Glen, you may want to change/improve Squoogle's keywords and description. At the moment keywords are: "link management" and description is "make a web directory with ease".

Thanks for that.
I've now put it on my To Do list.
If I can't find it in the admin control panel I'll just have to edit the (right) php pages.

Fluff:
Two of my favorite Directories of Directories are:
http://www.directorycritic.com/
http://info.vilesilencer.com/
I dont have a directory, so have never submitted. But I understand both are tricky about getting in.
In addition, here is another I have found:
http://www.directoryphoria.com/
But often regular directories will also allow submission of other directories. They are usually listed under Internet or something similar. For example go to this one:
http://www.2yi.net/
And submit under: Internet>Directories
Sometimes the place to submit directories can be very hard to find, like this one, where directories are hidden under business and shopping:
http://www.webworldindex.com/phtml/Busi … rectories/
I suggest to start with this list of free directories, and look around:
http://www.best-web-directories.com/fre … tories.htm

PS: Still looking for free directories which will accept Squidoo links!

Thanks LMP, I'll check them out.
Another good list of free directories can be found here, though for Squidoo lenses it might be better to look at the Deep Link Directories instead, although none are free.
An alternative to submitting each individual lens is to syndicate your entire Lensmaster account instead. Read about getting Deep Links with RSS Feeds, and there's also this list of Blog directories might also be worth a look. I should really get back to researching this, and add more services to the lens.

Internet Junkie
(Good name: I am an internet Junkie too), I dont know much about Google base, or if the link would be useful. Google likes to make links nofollow links. Do you know what that is? Nofollow links are not counted by the Google search engine spider and so worthless for raising your lens's ranking in Google. My hunch is that if Google base allowed a link it would probably be a nofollow link.
However, if you find out that the Google Base link is a dofollow link, please come back here and let us know!

Submitting lenses to Google Base would be more valuable for the traffic rather than the links, as matching products will appear that the top of the search results.
I don't think that Google Base is quite appropriate for Squidoo Lenses, and I've not seen any significant traffic from there. Even my own eCommerce site sees very little traffic from there.
But, feel free to give it a try, and perform your own test. Maybe others have had more luck...
