The "Squidoo Charity Boosters" - double-whammy exposure for you!

Many lensmasters reported a nice boost for their lens submissions from last week's campaign - "The Little Lens That Should". Here's my follow-up proposal for our currently informal "Squidoo Lens Booster Club":

The Squidoo Charity Boosters - 10% can change the world!

In the spirit of the season, lensmasters submit 2-5 lenses - one from another favorite lensmaster, and up to 4 lenses of their own.

Post the links right here in this thread, please.

Attention! "Seasonal" condition: your own lens(es) must be set to a minimum of 10% towards any one of these 6 charities, currently promoted by our Squidoo Activists Group:

      * Action Against Hunger
      * Food for Everyone Foundation
      * Heifer International
      * Oxfam America
      * Planet Gumbo
      * A Day of Hope

I will make a lens about the "Squidoo Charity Boosters" (you kind souls) and feature each participating lensmaster with their 2-5 submissions PLUS a link to their lensmaster page, in a specific individual featured lensmaster module!

But wait - there's more!

After you've submitted your links in this thread, go to Comfortdoc's "Month of Thanks" lens and submit your 10% charity lenses to the appropriate plexo for one of the first 5 charities listed above. If you've converted 10% towards "A Day of Hope", go to Christopher's lens "Month of Hope" and submit to one of his plexos for either existing or newly created charity lenses.

How's that for a double-whammy-exposure-boost?

To sum it all up:

We're creating good karma by recommending another lensmaster's work and giving 10% of one or more of our own. We're getting extra-extra promotion and internal backlinks for our pages. Again, we'll discover great lenses we hadn't seen before. And all this will be on display on one powerful lens that will draw the attention of supportive Giants and HQ.

Tip 1:

Submit only great-quality lenses! You just might make a Squid Angel stop in mid-flight for a closer look.

Tip 2:

Go visit your peers' lenses and experience the "Joy of Squidoo"!

Happy Giving Thanks! http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn131/chefkeem/BavarianAngel-1.gif

The submission office is open - NOW!  smile

Chef

Are you going to limit lensmasters to only submit one of their lenses and one from another lensmaster, or can we submit lenses that benefit different charities in the Month of Thanks Challenge?

Re: The "Squidoo Charity Boosters" - double-whammy exposure for you!

Hi Chef, Thanks for the invite AND so glad to see Heifer International featured. For a while it seemed they'd become the neglected stepchild on the Squidoo list of charities.

I'd like to recommend Lindajm's excellent lens on fighting false allegations from Child Protective Service at http://www.squidoo.com/fightcps.

One of my lenses donating to Heifer International and which is also appropriate for those trying to make 50 or 100 lenses by December 31 (not to mention any names, cough, cough, chef) is 10 Lenses in 10 Hours.

And a big Mahalo, Gracias, Thank you to You!

Re: The "Squidoo Charity Boosters" - double-whammy exposure for you!

Great question, Doc! Here's what I suggest:

I'll feature every participant in an individual "Featured Lenses" module. By default, the limit is 5 lenses. So, everyone should submit one lens (they love) by someone else and up to 4 of their own lenses set to a minimum of 10% for the above charities. I'll add an additional reference to their lensmaster page or their lensography. Maybe just simply a "Featured Lensmaster" module...

I'll start our lens a bit later on today, and I'll post the link here so you can see what it'll look like.

Any more questions or suggestions? Feel free to ask right here...   smile

Re: The "Squidoo Charity Boosters" - double-whammy exposure for you!

Okay, I am stumped. Where can I locate Heifer International? They had it in the list on the lens, then it got moved to the back 40, then it seemed to disappear. When you mentioned it here, Chef, I thought...hurray! They've brought it back. But I can't find it to add to some of my lenses. : (

I am a very unhappy giver. All those great charities and I only want Heifer International. Somebody call the Waaa-mbulence.

I just now converted my "Wife - my Superhero" lens to Heifer. It's right there in the charity pull-down menu. Is it this what you were looking for, or did I misunderstand you?  smile

Your lens can donate to it, but it is not in the drop down menu within the Donations module so that your lens visitors can donate to it.

I'd like to nominate Knit One Save One and my own lens is Dieting: Lose Weight and Keep It Off which supports Action Against Hunger. I think that's appropriate on a dieting lens when in developed countries, the big problem is obesity while in other countries people are dying of starvation.

Thanks, Naturegirl7 - but for this campaign we ask for at least 2 lenses: one of yours, set to 10% charity, and one of your favorites of another lensmaster (any lens you'd like to bring to everybody's attention for a little peer's lens love)  smile

Maybe this is a glitch? In my pull down menu on my lens, it goes: Hadassah, Hearts of Fire, Hope for Haiti and Humane Society. No Heifer.

I just went to check out your lens...my wife..my superhero, to see what template you were using (and got completely entranced by this lens, btw) and it appears to be the "normal" template.

I'm remembering that I did report this to Gil once and was told that they were removing some of the charities because they weren't Squidoo compliant (or something to that effect) so I just assumed that Heifer got axed.

Sorry Chef, I thought Willow's lens was already charity because it was on one of the other charity lens plexos, sorry.  If a lens donates only a percentage to charity, does it say it somewhere?  I guess I should add a donation module so people will know.  I'm doing about a million things at one time and it's hard to concentrate.

It doesn't matter whether you donate 10 or 100% - it says on the top right of the lens "Donates to (such 'n such)".

All I'm asking is that YOUR lens is set to a minimum of 10%. The other person's lens does not have to be set to charity. We do this for a little lens love.  smile

Oh, and so it does.  Sorry for all the goofs.  I hate the daylight savings time change.  It always makes me dull for at least a week.  I definitely missed that notation.  I thought that it only said it if it was 100% and some of the co-brand lenses don't say it at all, do they?  I must have done a percentage on a co-brand and just assumed it only showed 100%.  Thanks for the clarification.  I also misunderstood and thought that both my lens and the other person's lens had to be for charity.   I need some sleep.

I do like Willow's lensography and there's also a new lensmaster that builds some fantastic nature lenses with beautiful photos.  Here's my favorite of hers:  http://www.squidoo.com/Florida-Nature

May I add another one of mine for charity?  That will make 2 for me.  It's Stuffed Mirlitons:  http://www.squidoo.com/mirliton_recipes
