Crash course in Squidooing

If you have a lens on 'how to squidoo' please post it in this thread.

It doesn't have to be an a - z on squidooing. In fact the narrower and more specific the better.

Write a one, two sentence or one paragraph description to give a brief overview.

If there are two or more lenses dealing with the same subject matter (eg: lensrolling) that's fine. So long as the information is original and well presented.

I don't have time to review each lens myself and write an overview so be sure to give a good and honest description.

BEGINNERS

Why Squidoo? is to introduce the uninformed and the uninitiated to how Squidoo works. If you need an introduction as to what Squidoo can do for you, this is a good start.

I'm a Lensmaster! What now? is like taking the squidmobile for a test drive. You get a taste of the features and benefits. Need to know more? There's a few links in there to take you to other lenses that expand on what's been lightly touched on or briefly mentioned.

How To Squidoo And change The World For the beginner (but others could learn) covers: why create a lens, what are favorites, lensrolling, star ranking, groups, how to get content, photos, great resources on Squidoo and off, how to get traffic, examples of great lenses.

First Lens: How to Make Your First Lens

WIP: Work in Progress

MODULES

Squidoo Modules: This lens demonstrates a selection of some of the most used and useful Squidoo Modules. You'll see them in their natural environment, with content or product included.

HTML

Basic HTML: Changing font colors, adding hyperlinks, banner ads and a bunch of other stuff that you can't live without. It's all here.

HTML Tricks are small tricks to be used when trying to make your lens look better.

Advanced HTML for Squidoo: Lets get tricky! Some interesting effects and functions in this lens which is a continuation of the Basic HTML lens. Stop by and learn some new tricks and techniques and make every punch count.

HTML Tips for Color Color can be applied via HTML tags to fonts, borders and backgrounds. This lens lists colors in both the name and the hexadecimal value. Pick and choose and colors and color themes and copy and paste the code to your hearts content while using any of the How To HTML lenses here on Squidoo.

Bulleted and Ordered Lists You can easily insert bulleted or numbered lists in Text/Write List modules. Three simple tags gives you more control on how you display and present your information.

How to put a table of contents on your lens. A very simple, yet detailed explanation on how to create a table of contents on Squidoo lenses using the text/write module. Pretty basic stuff, but I don't find them to be very common amongst a lot of lenses. So, I figured I'd make a lens dedicated to creating one.

HTML Squidoo Tricks: How to lens with step-by-step instructions and sample codes to improve the appearance of your lens.

More CSS Tricks to Spice Up Your Lens: Here are just a few of my favorite ticks that I use to improve my lenses just a tiny bit, including the subtle and sympathetic use of Squidoo Orange and Squidoo Blue.

When you make your post, can I suggest that you group them into categories? For example: Newbies, Intermediate and Expert (or the SquidU equivalent).

It would be good to have a group to put all these in  too.

Re: Crash course in Squidooing

I think that's the reason that KCStargazer started the group, was to get all the best stuff about lenscrafting in one place.

She's pretty rigorous in her selection, to be sure, but that's why her other groups are so interesting.

It would be good to have a group to put all these in  too.

Good idea. If people can rate them themselves and mention it in a new post (but point out it's to add the rating so I don't get confused) that would be excellent.

I'll be adding some of these to www.squidoo.com/where and as Margaret points out, there's a group dedicated to it too. There's probably several in fact.

But the main aim of this was to get a one stop shop here in the forums to expose it to new converts. So they can come up to speed incredibly quickly.

I'll probably move the thread to the Introduce Yourself sub-forum and sticky it in a week or so.

Re: Crash course in Squidooing

Ok everyone I have been through the links provided above.

How's about a lesson for the Introduction segment

I am still fighting trying to get an image loaded and working in the intro part.

Here is my html code
<img src="http://splash-a-thon.com/misc/obacube.gif" height="50" width="50" align="left" />

I am also under the assumption that we can't change the colour of text in there either

I been switching to html part of it but no go and saving it Still end up with all the html code still and nothing changed Cept now I gotta go back and delete what I inserted
