At the Giant Squid Challenge Ning our motto was - Reaching Our Goals One Lens at a Time and our Giant Squid Training Camp weekly lens challenges are designed to help you do just that!
We will provide you with ideas, helpful links, and inspiration to help you become more creative with your lensmaking.
This week's Giant Squid Training Camp lens challenge is to create a Hey Monkeybrain! lens.
All are welcome to participate no matter how many lenses you have.
You'll find all the information you need to complete this challenge at the Hey Monkeybrain! Lens Challenge Lens.
Since Hey Monkeybrain! lenses are specifically designed to create reader interaction, this week's top lenses will be chosen by how many comments you can gather on the duel module on your NEW Hey Monkeybrain lens.
So for this week, your challenge is to create a lens that gets people talking!
Lenses with the most discussion going on by January 27, 2010 will be bragged about on the So You Want to be a Giant Squid? and the Giant Squid Showcase blogs so be sure to send your lenses to your friends and family and encourage them to sound off.
After you've created your NEW Hey Monkeybrain! lens be sure to post it in this thread AND in the appropriate plexo at the challenge lens here:

If anyone needs ideas, comparing two products seems to work very well with Hey Monkeybrains.

Thanks. The whole debate thing gives me an upset stomach. However, I felt good about donating to charity. So, it all worked out in the end.

I had an idea for a MonkeyBrain a while back, but never made it for fear that it would turn into an "over heated" debate. I always worry about certain topics being too controversial. Maybe I should make it for this challenge and see what happens?

I see why you thought it would be controversial. It probably will be, however, those kinds of debates can be the best ones. I think this presentation is very well-balanced and I don't see you pushing your opinion anywhere. Lots of resources! I don't know enough about Mormonism to comment but I think you will get some interesting discussion here.

yeah, I hadn't quite finished the lens yet, it's done enough to be published and debated on, but my own opinion, is, uhm, well, if you've read my "faerie" lens in my sig, you'll know why my opinion causes problems - from both sides. My personal beliefs are on the some what radical side - and though a Mormon myself, it seems to offend other Mormons - welll, actually, just the fact that I am a Mormon seems to offend a lot of other Mormons. LOL! There's a reason they are trying to excommunicate me for apostasy. Oh well. I'll try to work on writing up more about my own beliefs on it, maybe later today.
But, yeah - the flames have started already, my long time online stalker just got a hold of this lens, and though he hasn't commented on it yet, he's filling my inbox up with long ranting emails. I'll be interested to see if he actually comes forward to publicly post on the lens instead of just emailing me in private - he's not a Squidoo member, but I've seen him post some pretty nasty stuff on other lensmasters religion topic lenses (I think he thought they were my lenses, based on some things he had said! LOL!) he always uses the same name-tag and his flaming style is pretty unique so I can tell his posts right off. Right now he's posting on my FaceBook wall. YIKES! I'll have to go delete those. FB doesn't take to kindly to comments like his. I'm questioning right now, if he does post on my lens - should I delete his comments or not? He's been know to get pretty bad mouthed at times. I guess I'll just wait and see if he actually does comment or not and if so how bad it is. I think maybe I should hope he doesn't comment.
Considering he's the one I was worried about, I guess I'll know soon if I was right to worry or not.

Your lens was very helpful. My first MonkeyBrain lens was created for this challenge. I think I have violated the Put words in their mouth rule. I wrote the following question - Should Animals Be Rescued After a Natural Disaster? Then my two choices are
Yes, you're right! The animals should also be saved and No! I don't have anything against animals but all efforts should be used to save people.
I didn't want anyone to need to defend in the yes case that in addition to people they wanted animals and in the no case that were not animal haters.
There are some debates that I do not participate in because I feel that I need to defend a point that might not be related to the general topic of the lens or question and then take yes or no. So I just write in the guestbook instead. Do you think that my debate questions would be better as just yes and no?
Hope that makes sense
Thanks
