that we are not receiving any earnings from our eBay modules this month?
I realize not everyone does well with eBay sales, but I am getting killed this month since we stopped receiving earnings from the eBay module. We are not even receiving earnings per click as the new EPN program states. And, no word from HQ since Oct 8th. 11 days and no update. I am really trying to be patient, but my patience is wearing thin. I am confident HQ is working with eBay to fix this, but I can't help but wonder why they were not proactive in the beginning when this new program was announced. Why did they wait until after the program took effect on Oct 1st to see how it would impact our eBay modules?
To top it off, I am also losing lenses out of the top tier since they no longer have the royalties to help them maintain their position. Add that to the fact that Oct is one of the busiest times of the year for my lenses, the time of the year I look forward to the most, but without eBay sales, my earnings are dismal.
I am also wondering that if/when they do correct the problem, will we be given the earnings for the last two weeks or are these earnings gone for good.
What is even more frustrating is that nobody else has even posted the slightest concern over this issue in the forum. It certainly is lonely to be the only lensmaster that seems to care about this. You know what they say, misery loves company.
eBay is my main niche and if I can't make money on Squidoo with eBay, then I really may need to rethink why I am here at all.
I just needed to vent some. Thanks for listening.

It's not difficult to put myself in your place, and I'd be really frustrated, too! I admit, though, that I haven't paid all that much attention to this issue because I've not made much (if anything?) from my couple of Ebay modules, with most of my affiliate sales being through Amazon. But that's probably ONLY because I haven't utilized the Ebay module enough OR well enough. I know, though, that your case is quite the opposite, and I'm sure there are others. Maybe many of those folks aren't active in the forums?
At any rate, I can image that, for you and others like you who've been earning significant money from Ebay sales, this is like losing a job (or business, rather).
Well, my response here was pretty useless. I just wanted to sympathize (empathize? commiserate?) ... you know, respond.

Wow that blog post was a while ago. I read that and thought of you.
My ebay sales are pretty minimal so it's hard for me to tell when it's not working. After the blog post I thought it was being fixed and never looked to see if it was working again. If I've made sales I hope they will be paid out when it's back up!

Your post was not useless and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. It did make me feel better. ![]()
I do well w/ amazon and my 3rd party affiliates, but for some reason my lenses always did best with eBay.
I am just grateful that I listened to the little voice in my head a year or so ago that told me to diversify my online presence to other platforms. If I hadn't, I would be taking a huge earnings hit this month as opposed to a minor one overall. However, this does not make this situation any less frustrating....

I think many lensmasters may have been thinking that, but I am here to let everyone know it is not fixed.

Ugh! This is not a good sign. Thanks Janet for letting us all know that it needs fixed ASAP. Just last night I put ebay modules on 20 lenses. If I'm not going to get a commission I'm taking them back off!
Please let us know if you hear anything from HQ on this?

I know most of you have read it already and it doesn't help address your concerns, but here's the latest word from HQ about eBay for anyone who has not seen it. [Oct 8th]

I definitely care... and didn't even realise that we were not getting paid for our e-bay sales ![]()
this is very upsetting... I alsp have recently added a lot of e-bay modules after being prompted to add them by rms & the Giants blog...
now I'm wondering why we were encouraged to add them if we don't even get paid for having them...
I'm with Deb, if I'm not going to get a commission then I will be removing them from my lenses???
hopefully HQ addresses this issue quickly
I feel really bad now, since I have been encouraging squids I'm helping to add e-bay modules...
if I had known that they wouldn't get a commission, I would never have suggested it ![]()

I have definitely noticed, Janet. Thank you for speaking up.
I have never made much through eBay affiliate sales but I am firmly of the belief that certain types of lenses (with certain products) do extremely well with eBay. Of course, it is only lately that I've learned how to make this work for my lenses. It's almost as if, for instance, eBay was made to help me sell pie birds through my pie birds lens. It is a perfect match.
Right now eBay is reaping the rewards of our lenses as we continue to send them traffic. I too have been wondering if we will be paid, particularly as I watched visitors click out to pie bird after pie bird after pie bird.
I'm also wondering if Squidoo can do anything about a problem with eBay's systems. I'm not too sure about that.
Of course, Squidoo must be losing money, too.
An update would be great!

So does that mean that eventually we will get commissions for sales made during the changes
or that Squids are just SOL for commissions earned during e-bay's restructuring???
It's a pretty ambiguous post, that really doesn't answer much, just tells us to be patient
Some assurance one way or the other would be nice ![]()

Janet, this is totally killing my royalties too! I am pulling my hair out waiting for official word about this problem. Honestly, you were the first person that came to mind when I realized the situation and I considered asking if you'd heard any news because I knew you'd be hit hard with so many top lenses and successful ebay modules.
I reported a bug report at the first of the month when I noticed that my royalties had dropped drastically, but without having specific details to where the loss was coming from HQ requested more information before they could investigate. I was totally frustrated at this point because I could not pinpoint the suspicious drop in royalties despite the huge seasonal increase in traffic, clickouts and affiliate sales. A few days later I saw the post about the ebay modules and my heart sank. A gigantic percentage of my royalties are from ebay and I have spent hundreds of hours updating the modules to generate a large number of sales, which do especially well at this time of year... as in this month, right now, Halloween costume time!! This is just devastating after looking at my earnings at this time last year.
I just spent the entire morning updating lenses after taking the past week off and I was soo tempted to delete all my ebay modules, but then I would have to spend literally hundreds of hours putting them back if this gets worked out.
Thank you for making this post! I hope we get some answers very soon.

I promise that we'll post an update as soon as we hear back from eBay. We've done everything we can to escalate the issue.

Gil, EPN announced their new QCP program in mid-August. I would have hoped that Squidoo & EPN would have been working together to iron out the details way before Oct 1 to make sure the programming was all in place when the program went live . I think this could have possibly eliminated the situation we are currently in with fumbling to get things fixed after the fact. I could be way off base here, even possibly out of line, but it appears that someone dropped the ball. When I contacted HQ regarding this on Oct 5th, it appeared that they had no idea there even was a problem.
Did you guys think that the new program would not effect our modules so you did nothing until after Oct 1st when you realized we had a problem or have you been working with EPN since the new program was first announced? I'm just curious....
Thanks for posting, please keep us updated on this.

Janet - I am right there with you. I can completely understand your frustration and I am feeling it as well. I am not crazy about the new Ebay EPC I think they are ripping us Affiliates off to begin with. I think you brought this to a lot of lensmasters attention who may not even had known this was going on. I just hope that when it is fixed we will get paid like you said going back to when it started. With all the clicks we are sending to Ebay through our lenses - someone is getting paid for them and it has not been us.
Keep us all up to date on what you hear and hopefully this will get fixed really soon. Hang in there girl!!!

I hope this gets resolved for you Janet because we all one day aspire to get the eBay affiliate commission on the sale of a car or some other big ticket item on our lenses, too. Hang in there. But congratulations on your success on HubPages and your diversification strategy. I see on your recent interview there you made over $500 last month with them. That's super...![]()

That would be nice. But, I have had the fortune/misfortune (I am still deciding which) to be involved in high level business development discussions with eBay and they moved slooooooooooooow. When compared to other Internet partners, progress at eBay was substantially slower.
It takes two to Tangoo. So as eager as Squidoo might be to resolve this, unless somebody at eBay is eager to dance this will continue to drag.
It might actually be more effective to raise this issue in the eBay support/affiliate forums as eBay is the party that needs to be pressured into changing a policy.

I agree, eBay does move very slowly. However, I raised the question to find out if Squidoo attempted to work things out with eBay before Oct 1st (back in Aug when the announcement was first made) or after. To me, that makes a difference. It is a matter of being proactive as opposed to being reactive.
I am a member of the epn affiliate forums, however, I doubt bringing it up there will help. If they are not responding to Seth Godin's request to get this fixed, I can't imagine they are going to give a hoot what I think. I am not the affiliate in this case anyway, Squidoo is.

Janet, I am so sorry that this is hurting your lenses so much. I have not utilized the eBay modules really yet. I was thinking about trying them, when they started announcing the changes. I truly hope they get this straighten out soon.

I hate that you're going through this and hope it all gets figured out soon. It doesn't effect me since I don't have the first ebay module o a lens, but I do sympathize with you.

Sorry, but from an SEO perspective that's just stupid. Delete the ebay modules, replace them with amazon modules and link out to whatever new web projects you've got going on. THAT's the way to respond to this if you're going to 'quit' squidoo. You've built online real estate here. Deleting that will hurt no one but you. Instead you should use it as a baseline link pool for other projects & new projects.

I have hardly ever used eBay on my lenses so I didn't even notice the changes.
But I can understand concern about it and do hope that it does get straightened out quickly.
If it helps any - Squidoo has always been fair to us lensmasters, and will do the best that they can.

Exactly.
The problem is with eBay, as they don't provided detailed information about where the clicks are coming from (I checked by looking in my own EPN account). Until they do, Squidoo can't attribute the revenue to the rightful lenses.
All we can do is wait...

I wasn't aware that we weren't getting paid for Ebay until now. I recently made my first ebay sale and i was excited to see how much I was going to get...but it never showed up. So I checked the forum and found this. Now im sad
But I will just change the modules I suppose.
