I am getting a laptop. I really need a new computer, the one I am using is 10 years old. You can imagine what a hassle that has been. I am right in the middle of looking at someon'es lenses and I get locked up.
I decided to get a laptop because then my husband an I can use the computer at the same time. Hey, we met on-line. Maybe we'll start flirting again, lol.
The reason for my windfall was the death of my 95 year old mother in May. She had made me the beneficiary of a small but sizeable (to me) life insurance policy. My mother was a very big supporter of my writing. When I was 10 years old, she bought me a tape recorder so I could tape my stories. She took me to meet a published writer to have one of my stories critqued. She cut out and kept every article I wrote for a weekly newspaper, and I wrote that column for 4 years. She made a church banner on the theme of one of the spiritual articles I had published.
She went blind and then got dementia before she could see the things I have published on-line, but I know she would have asked me to print them out for her.
So I have no doubt that she would want me to have a good computer to continue my writing.
The check came today. I'm going shopping!
You can see a picture of my very supportive mother on my lens The Art of Copper Enameling.

The most amazing people in the world are Mothers, and the children who appreciate and love them. Your Mother sounds like she was an amazing woman and I think that she would be proud to see how you are going to further your writing.

My laptop is home! It is an HP and right now it is sitting on top of a box while I am still at my desktop. Why, you ask? Because my techy husband is a perfectionist and he is taking his sweet blankety blank time about getting it up and running and hooked up to the Internet.
There I have that out of my system. Patience, I say.
But it sure is pretty!

Congratulations on the laptop!
I know pretty much how you feel. I just got a new desktop computer last weekend to replace my 6.5-year-old dinosaur. Be patient if your husband will configure yours. I did everything on mine by myself for the first time and it totally consumed me for nearly a week. It was worth it, though!
