*The Forum Rules.
Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.
1. New to the lounge? Get started here. Learn which category to post your note in, and create a forum signature.
2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic, sockpuppet, or link to irrelevant and non-Squidoo sites (includes signatures).
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.
I was just updating my lenses this morning to opt out of the text ads (which I think are incredibly tacky and spammy and some of the sites linked to have shown up as malicious via Google Chrome) and three of my food related lenses have to be hand reviewed now. I just made Giant Squid and I try extremely hard to not be spam-like (although I think of some of my lenses as online boutiques and have quite a few etsy or ebay modules on them, but they fit the theme). I just read that Giant Squids are exempt from the spam filter. Why is this happening to me?
It takes me DAYS to make a lens. This is upsetting me enough to a) make me cry and b) make me want to leave Squidoo but I can't because I am in desperate need of the $80-100 I make - that's the only reliable income I have. I am NOT a criminal but I am being treated like one. I am one of the people that makes Squidoo look good! I really don't need this. And now I'm afraid to even voice my opinion for fear I'll be kicked off entirely and I NEED that money. It's NOT a hobby.

I'm just another Squidoo user, so I can't really help of course, but I'm really sorry to hear this. I hear your frustration and hope it gets sorted out VERY quickly. You've worked hard to get to Giant and shouldn't have to deal with that. Keep us posted.

Might also be worth submitting a bug report if you're a Giant Squid, as the lenses shouldn't be grabbed by the spam filter.
I had this happen to one of my lenses last year, but rather than submitting for hand review, I just hit the 'back' button, and waited a day before trying to update again. It turned out to be a bug, and I didn't have any trouble with the update the following day.

I'm a giant squid, and when I was going for the 100 club, I made a lens about native Salvias (the flowers that attract hummingbirds, not the bad one) & I decided to publish it after I changed the title from salvia to sage & it is still awaiting the hand review that they said would take 30 days. We are now on day 25.
Apparently the new anti-spam regulations are picking up all sorts of extra key words that are not spam.
I can relate totally. This would have been my last lens of the challenge & that's why I published it. So I had to make another lens & my perfectly good one is floundering in WIP.
Your situation sounds like a bug, since the lenses were live and fine. Submit a bug report. There are many bugs going around right now, this could be another one.

Naturegirl I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. I was thinking about how I would have felt if this had happened in the last days of my getting to Giant Squid. I would have been even more unhappy.
Everybody thanks for your words of encouragement. I guess I should do a bug report.

Hi Intuitive, I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you. Giant Squids should not be subject to any spam blacklists. Please submit a bug report to Giant Squid Concierge (addressed to me) with the URLs of your lenses and I'll be happy to investigate.
Naturegirl, your salvia lens is now published. Thanks for your patience!

Thank you very much, giltotherescue. I sent a bug report although I didn't quite figure out how to address it to you directly except in the message.

Thanks Gil,
I noticed that the date had changed on last updated, but waited until lensrank update to be sure. It's finally free from Spam filter prison. Hooray! Now I'm off to publicize it and make some corrections. Happy Day!
