Opening a second account

What's the feeling on opening a second account?
(my cat wants to know- he reckons he should have his own account)

What's the contraindications (as they say on the back of asprin packets) apart from me transferring 2 lenses to my cat. But he did write them himself after all

Any benefits?

Re: Opening a second account

I say, why should your cat be forced to publish HIS lenses under your name? That's not right. They're not YOUR work? In a way, that's stealing his lenses. smile

Isn't it basically fine to have more than one account, as long as it's linked to it's own email address and isn't used to rate and favorite your own lenses and all that jazz?

Anyhow, your cat has a personality all his own and probably writes about much different subjects than you do. He probably has a need to share his views on fur balls, how to manage his own litter box, how to escape, mouse-catching tactics, and how best to drive his human nuts.

Re: Opening a second account

There are some good reasons for opening more than one account, such as for marketing purposes or just to use a different identity as sort of a different "brand."

One thing you need to know is that lenses on other accounts don't count toward Giant Squid or Top 100 status.

Please pass along my apologies to the venerable Vladimir. (Whatever "venerable" means.)

He's certainly a different brand.  You don't think it's silly? Do many people do it, do you think?

( I can afford to transfer 2 lenses, both written by my cat while I was asleep, which would leave me 140 .. then Vladimir could aim for Giant Squid himself. )

Silly? What would the world be like without silliness? I doubt you'd be the first Squid to do a lens by a pet.

Just suppose that Vladimir actually earned some money from his lenses - I could set the payments to go into my paypal account? (he doesn't have one)
Pardon if these are silly questions, there isn't much info around on second accounts

Re: Opening a second account

I think this is a wonderful idea! Sneaky Pie Brown helps her human Rita Mae Brown write mystery novels (I"ve heard it's because she can't type with no thumbs and all, but that could be a rumor).

Ramkitten, your comments made me laugh! We humans who share our lives with our cats can relate!

By the way, Susanna, Vladi has a real talent with the pen!

Re: Opening a second account

I had a second one which was opened for "non-art-related lenses", but I closed that.  I didn´t use it a lot, also it made me feel like Jekyll and Hyde. After all I think it was a good decision to concentrate on one account.

Re: Opening a second account

I have second account. I've separated all lenses connected to two of my Zazzle stores since they don't really fit the rest of my topics.

BTW, Vlad is really charmer! smile

I must admit I have mixed feelings about multiplke accounts. It's like science - in the right hands it's fine but in the wrong hands you can blow up the world!

Re: Opening a second account

I have four accounts now, I think. (I think it's only four. :-) And the world hasn't blown up yet. The other three are just things that I either didn't want cluttering up my main account or definitely needed their own "brand" - which either meant I didn't think I looked like a viable expert on the topic or I didn't want to be too closely associated with it. (Nothing bad, just troll potential.) They all use the same PayPal account, no problem.

Glad Vlad was able to get it all figured out. Johann is the king of the animal Squids around here, but he's a pretty cat-friendly dog, of course. :-)

Oh my gosh.
That's one good reason for never letting our cats have an account.  Hopefully Vladimir is too much of a gentleman, but I had better make sure I monitor Samhain's online activities closely!

Re: Opening a second account

I am all about the multiple accounts.  I think Vladimir has a duty to start his own account... he's representing the four legged population!!   I can't imagine any negative repercussions of this..  of course, maybe Vladimir just wants to start lenses that discriminate against mice and dogs... then I may have some issues with it.  lol

Re: Opening a second account

I dont have a problem with multiple accounts when they are being managed by people who understand what Squidoo is about and who are community minded. But sadly there are those who take advice that is given with the best of intentions and then use it for the worst of intentions. sad

Re: Opening a second account

I am going to butt my head in here a little bit.  I myself had a second account.  I was one of those people whom have been hesitant about having a second account.  The main reason I had opened up my second account was more for the books I publish, but it also hitting the niche of writing and reading.  There are some slight overlaps of my two accounts as I may write about authors, but the reviews of any book will go under Taylorwinters
