Potential Giant Challenge June 30, 2009 Deadline

Back by popular demand,  the new Potential Giant challenge for the June 30th deadline is now officially on.

The rules:

Anyone interested in becoming a Giant Squid lensmaster is eligible and asked to keep track of their progress and lens count here, in this thread.  That's it!

Keeping track means that you check in here from time to time.  Dropping in with a single post will not count.  We want to see numbers, and or comments, and some serious cheerleading going on in here.

The goal is to help and encourage each other on the road to Giant Squid status.

The Prize:

Every lensmaster who keeps track of their progress on this thread AND becomes a Giant on June 30th 2009 will get a Spotlight feature at the Giant Squid Community Showcase blog.  http://www.giantsquidshowcase.com

Good luck!

Re: Potential Giant Challenge June 30, 2009 Deadline

I've got exactly 50 featured lenses but about 1/3 of those neeed reworking if I want them to count so I'm guessing about 35 eligble lenses at present.  (And a couple just won't make eligble lenseds whatever I do.)  I'm working on finishing one of my WIP lenses this weekend and have a lot of the re-work done on another.  Most of my lenses take me 10 hours plus - some 20 hours or more, so I've got a lot of work ahead of me.  I'll probably write some quicker ones to make the 50 though

Re: Potential Giant Challenge June 30, 2009 Deadline

I'm checking in...just hit the publish button on lens # 31 : http://www.squidoo.com/writers-make-money-online

Actually, I'm looking for some feedback on this one...does it come off as "spammy" ? (god forbid) or cheesy?
or is it tasteful and helpful? ...it can be such a fine line with these types of lenses...
I know that when I first joined squidoo it took me over a month to find this info on various lenses and as a writer I would have loved a lens like this and would have found it very helpful...but maybe it's just me and I'm crazy...lol
Thanks for any feedback smile

Re: Potential Giant Challenge June 30, 2009 Deadline

I'm entering the running again.  I've got 50 but some need some work.  I rushed last quarter, so this time I'm gonna spend some time working out the kinks. Here's my Lensography feel free to critique any of my lenses.  I would love suggestions on any and all.  I'll be putting up more as I edit them.  Good Luck to everybody in the running! big_smile

I'm in. Not sure if I can do it, but I have 11 featured and one WHIP at the moment. I think it's possible, but we'll soon see. I know I have lots of ideas for lenses!

Re: Potential Giant Challenge June 30, 2009 Deadline

I have 33. several of those are lensographies.  I am reworking mine one at the time. I'm going through with a fresh eye, adding some style, centering everything up.....  I would like to have 60 lenses by the time I apply.  So with that goal in mind, I have 27 left to do.
I am currently working on my fun lens directory and it has given me a conniption fit, but at the same time it's been fun.  It's going to have music and some fun graphics I did all by myself (huge accomplishment!). It only has 3 lenses right now, but I am going to be adding to that.  I really needed a way to organize my lenses better.

happy lens making everyone!!!

Making your own graghics is something to be very proud of, luvmyludwig. I wish I were more artistic in that way. I'm confident you can do it!

Re: Potential Giant Challenge June 30, 2009 Deadline

Mysticmama, your lens is pretty good :-).  There are a couple of grammar issues though.  In your title, "Writer's" should be Writers.  There's no possession in your title.  Also, under Online Tips for Writers, you spelled grammar "grammer" a couple of times, which is misspelled.  But I liked it.

I have 22 lenses now that are actually worked on.  Not sure how good they are to be Giant Squiddish, but I'll keep creating new ones, and will work on the ones I have already made :-)

Robin,
I'm going for Giant 100. I've been posting to this thread already.

I just published #94 -- 100 Strangers Project. It's a photography project on Flickr that I've recently joined.

Six more to go. I've got 6 WIPs. I just need to get them ready to publish.

Re: Potential Giant Challenge June 30, 2009 Deadline

Jimmie,
As requested by several people last time,  I'm keeping a separate thread for 100club here:  http://www.squidu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=33370
You are more than welcome to act as a cheerleader here too though!

I need to keep my challenges in their own respective threads because this is where I wil be looking at the end of the quarter.  It would be too confusing for me to have to check several different threads.  I hope everyone understands!

I'm in, too!  Although I have well over 50 lenses, a third of them could stand some tweaking and re-working.  I'm committed to that as well as adding a few new ones.
