Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.

1. New to the lounge? Get started here. Learn which category to post your note in, and create a forum signature.
2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic, sockpuppet, or link to irrelevant and non-Squidoo sites (includes signatures).
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.

A Squidoo Success Story

I have long admired those of you who are getting huge visitor numbers every week. My lenses are much more modest. Nevertheless that doesn't mean that they aren't effective smile

I wrote a lens for a friend who started a clothing line called Just BEE. Her story is an amazing one of courage and perseverance after a massive head trauma. Her line of clothes reflects her beautiful spirit that continues to shine from her throughout all the adversity she's experienced.

You can imagine how hard it could be to start your own clothing line on a shoestring. I went to help her at a Yes! I Can! metaphysical conference that Hay House hosted in Las Vegas last June. Her booth was kind of quiet one afternoon, so I decided to show her how to Squidoo and made the lens about her company.

She just wrote me that that little lens, that gets maybe 3-5 visitors a week, brought her a fabulous new client. A woman in Phoenix found one of the Just BEE T-shirts in Red Lodge, Montana and fell in love with it. So she googled Just BEE and besides the website, up popped the Squidoo lens (just like HQ told us it would). The story that I wrote about her is what sold the woman on placing an order of Just BEE clothes for her own shop.

Even without mastery of keywords, SEO and all the other geeky knowledge, these lenses are powerful tools to help people.

Thank you, Squidoo, for all the many wonderful ways that you are making a difference.

Re: A Squidoo Success Story

Very cool, that is so nice to hear.

And you can have all the traffic in the world, I actually call them "tire kickers", but how great it is to get that one special customer!

That's how a business grows, one customer at a time.

Congratulations and the best of luck to her!

I just read this while drinking my morning cup of tea...what a lovely story to start the day with.

I'm so pleased for your friend - not only for her sales, but for the fact that he's lucky to have a friend like you smile

Re: A Squidoo Success Story

You've expressed it perfectly. Squidoo is so much more than individuals creating lenses. It's the connections we make, and how our lives spill over into one another's that counts.

Re: A Squidoo Success Story

It was so thoughtful of you to give your time to help this woman.  What a great story!  Thanks for sharing it with us.

*edited after visiting the lens*  I love the lens.  I think you did a great job with it.  You were too modest to list the address in your original post, so I'm doing it for you:

Thrivingmom...thanks for adding the url. I didn't want to include it and get "moved" to the "favorite lens" category. Everyone else...what generous replies! Thank you.

I've often thought that getting excited about the numbers may be good general marketing, but it is the quality of the traffic that is most important. Congratulations

Great story and that shows why the Internet has such potential.  You never know who might see your lens, blog or whatever or who will link to it.  On one of my blogs I once got over 40,000 hits in one day because a major site linked to it.

Mike.

Well yes, I agree that this is a jolly nice story, especially from one of my fave LM's, but really...the gushing sentimental replies are really over the top!

This "wear your heart on the sleeve" stuff is terribly un-British! I dread to think what will happen when the "Great Obama" is in power!

Some of you lot seem to think that Squidoo is the "second coming".

Honestly! tut..tut!!

Oh for goodness sakes. I'm so dyslexic sometimes it drives me nuts. Somehow I kept thinking your birthday was in November even though we all just got done saying Happy Birthday to you. Or did I dream that too?
