*The Forum Rules.
Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.
1. New to the lounge? Get started here. Learn which category to post your note in, and create a forum signature.
2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic or sockpuppet.
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.
Back by popular demand, and especially for OctaviasOfferings, the new Potential Giant challenge for the December 31st deadline is on.
The rules:
Anyone interested in becoming a Giant Squid lensmaster or a new member of the 100 Club is eligible and asked to keep track of their progress and lens count here, in this thread. That's it!
Keeping track means that you check in here from time to time. Dropping in with a single post will not count. We want to see numbers, and or comments, and some serious cheerleading going on in here.
The goal is to help and encourage each other on the road to Giant Squid status.
The Prize:
Every lensmaster who keeps track of their progress on this thread AND becomes a Giant or 100 Club member on December 31, 2008 will get a lens of their choice featured at the Giant Squid Community Showcase blog.
Good luck!

Great! I am now at 82 lenses working toward my 100 -- gotta find lots more inspiration for sure!
Offline
I'm at 93 lenses, same as the last two months! Seriously need to focus and get some lenses published.

With only 67 lenses, I doubt I'll be elegible for the 100 Club by the end of December. Then again, I never thought I'd make Giant Squid at the end of September.

Very cool Robin! Can't wait too see who is working toward Giant Status this time.

Is the 100 group an official thing? If so, is there a list of people?
Offline

You can learn more about it here.

I send mail and asked CCGAL and OldGrampa to come and join this thread!
As formal Fresh Squids they have 36 and 40 lenses by now and I think that they both have quality, will and enough time to make quantity by December, 31st!
So, hope they will join in! ![]()

Ah put me on the spot eh! ![]()
Here are some simple tips....
Which lens are you going to edit today?
I edit the lenses that are border line top tier! Each day I will edit the lenses that are sitting between 2000-4000 lensrank!
I will also watch the date that I last made an edit to a certain lens. If it has slipped past a week or more i make it a priority to edit that lens.
Always add something new when you edit, google and other search engines want to see some fresh meat added to a page. If google comes back for a visit and doesn't see anything new added, it is safe to say, they might just lower your placement in there search results.
FEED GOOGLE!!!![]()

What’s the rush? To produce a magic number for a gong or recognition?
Isn’t it time that Squidoo acknowledged lensmasters producing quality over quantity?
Isn’t it time that Squidoo stepped back a little, and acknowledged loyal lensmasters who have produced a small but valuable input?
Isn’t it time that Squidoo searched the archives to recognise quality lenses instead of the incessant promotion of puerile LOTD’s.
Clearly not. The measure of success on Squidoo is the volume of production. It seems to me that you’re teaching granny to suck eggs. If you keep all those eggs in the same basket, others will break – don’t lose those free range eggs – they are fragile!
If you want battery farmed eggs – then you will get them, but we all know they are a false economy.
There are some exceptions (quality LM's who are almost at the target) – but let such people reach it in their own time at their own leisure without feeling brow-beaten to satisfy the whims and fancies of populist marketing.
Good luck to those who wish to join the contest. ![]()
