I posted this question somewhere else, but now I can't find the thread (After about 16 hours of writing, I slip into the "Stupid Zone" and must have written the post then)
Anyway, In the scheme of things, How good are lenses ranked above 100,000? 50,000, or even above 5,000. I'm aiming for Giant Squid. (I now have 26 lenses) but I don't know what exactly is considered a "decent" lensrank.
Thanks in advance

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. There are very good lenses down in the 100,000 range (I know because some are mine). The lower the rank, the better the lens is doing. But lensrank is not related to being a Giant Squid, so I'm a little confused by your question.

Well, from the description of the giant squids (and how to become one) it says the lenses have to be exceptional. Besides, I just wondered how lensranking fit into the whole scheme of things. I know that the lower the number, the better the lensrank, but is there a shooting point? For example, I only have 26 lenses but they all break 100,000.
If lensrank doesn't matter, why is there lensranks? I remember a saying from way back that goes "if winning doesn't matter, why do we keep score?" Kind of the same premise.

Hello vbright, Lensrank will have no bearing on becoming a Giant Squid. Lensrank is very important as far as payout tiers goes. Plus the better your lens ranks, it will show up sooner on the search pages inside of Squidoo's site.
To become a Giant we are looking for lenses that have quality content, not to spammy, and we are looking for a good variety of squidoo co-brand lenses! Meaning if you have 50 short who is squidoo lenses, you may be passed on to become a Giant! So try to have a good number of the regular type of Squidoo lenses!
I have taken on the responsibility of helping future Giants reach the goal of becoming a Giant! Sort of like a Giants Coach! lol
I am here to help you in any way. So any question you have send me an email!

Gotcha. Lensrank matters. We're all pretty competitive about it, for one, and as Thomas mentioned, it impacts the pay tier. But lensrank isn't the defining characteristic of a great lens, nor a requirement for Giant Squid. You could argue it should be, because is it truly a great lens if you have no traffic or audience for it? (I would say it can be a great lens; you just might have absolutely no SEO knowledge to help it get traffic. This is my excuse for the first five months I was building lenses. :-)

Thank you dear! You mean you haven't gotten on the "face your manga" train yet? It's all the rage at Twitter and has a few people raging about it. Don't like that people changed their avatars, think it's childish looking, think that photos are better, etc. Got people very stirred up! Website is http://www.faceyourmanga.com - note that they send it to you by email and in the TOS is something about using your email to send stuff. I used an account that they can spam until the apocalypse for all I care. Just FYI, though. It was quite fun and probably looks more like me than my previous picture did. :-)
