To max or unmax?

Can someone help me on this? When does one max or unmax a lens? What are the advantages of unmaxing a lens?

There are Guestbook comments on why others prefer having their lenses unmaxed.

I keep mine maxed. I just like them that way.

Thanks for the great info! I've another question for Squidoo: Does Squidoo prefer a lens to be maxed or unmaxed? Is whether a lens is  maxed or unmaxed a criterion for payment?

They'd prefer it to be maxed.

On the other hand, while there was talk that maxed lenses get a bigger share of the co-op payments I don't think that it has been the case.

Re: To max or unmax?

maxed is ugly and boxy and unmaxed less so...there you have my reason to unmax....your opinion may differ.

Re: To max or unmax?

My opinion is the opposite of KilnGoddess' I find the maxed lens layout more attractive (I think the unmaxed lenses have way too much white space, makes things look bare).  I especially love the blue table of contents for the max layout, the TOC module gets too long and really isn't attractive.

Since HQ changed to the new layout, it's Max all the way baby.

Re: To max or unmax?

Personally, I'd never unmax any lenses. I think they look a lot better maxed. (OMG! I'm actually agreeing with Cinetech?!) =P
