*The Forum Rules.
Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.
1. New to the lounge? Get started here. Learn which category to post your note in, and create a forum signature.
2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic or sockpuppet.
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.
1. Create a few new lenses on topics you love.
2. Visit the http://www.stumpedia.com home page.
3. Search for keywords and phrases that match the topics related to your lenses.
4. Submit your Squidoo URLs.
The relevancy of search results are then ranked and rated by the volunteer community through the ability to vote listings up or down (much like Digg, Mixx and Sphinn).
Adding sites is so easy a caveman can do it.
Give it a try and let me know how it works out for you.

Very cool! Thanks for the tip! I'd never heard of it before. ![]()

I created a profile on Stumpedia and submitted a bunch of lenses. It is definitely easy to submit a site after you sign up. I hope Stumpedia will catch on because it seems pretty new.

Hopefully it doesn't die like ChaCha did. ChaCha was the same thing, but is now some sort of mobile phone service.

I added 4 lenses to Stumped fine, looked good, and then on the 5th it came up with a weird screen and now it's locked up.
I did write a much longer message - but between reading the thread and posting I got logged out of the lounge and just can't be bothered to type it all again. This problem seemed to have gone away, and then yesterday it happened 5 times! I'm so pi$$ed off at losing my comments right now - I hate having to type things twice, and you don't always think to copy before submitting. Ggggrrrrhhh..... Maybe I should add this to My Pet Peeves...

Thanks for giving heads up

Stumpedia,
I sincerely hope your search engine takes off and doesn't become laden with spam and garbage.
I think it's a fantastic concept and truly could become the best search engine around, being that it's human edited and moderated. Awesome!![]()

triathlontraining - Thank you for your interest and participation.
Presently we're leaving it up to the community to handle spam submissions by voting down irrelevant results. We're also monitoring activity and are prepared to take action if spam becomes a problem. Banning people that spam, removing spammy results, etc, are all options we are open to.

OH Oh - now Stumpedia is becoming addicting
I am enjoying it and like the whole concept so I am willing to give it my support.

I think it is addicting, although I did notice this morning that someone has been giving a lot of Squidoo lenses a Thumbs Down for some reason - not just mine...
One thing I did notice is that the tag you use needs to be very specific. For example if you have a tag of "house" and someone searches on "houses" it won't find your link. You need to add both singular and plural and all variations, which might be a little frustrating.
One thing I also did was to add a tag of "Squidoo" for all my lenses, I assume others have done the same, since a lot of other lenses pop up when I search on that.
I think only time will tell if Stumpledia is going to be effective, but it's catching on fast by the look of it.

Wow a lot of topics I'm interested in are empty. I don't want to spam the index with a bunch of my related topics, but actually, yes I do.
Looks like its off to a good start, I see a healthy set of back-links for a relatively new site.

I found that, lots of empty topics.
Well someone has to add the first link for each - might as well be you ![]()

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for your interest and participation in Stumpedia. I am curious to know how the user experience has been for you and what you like and/or dislike about Stumpedia? Any suggestions on new features and/or changes would be very much appreciated.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Thanks,

I've been submitting lenses to Stumpedia, but I wondered how many keywords you are allowed to submit per lens/page.
Offline
I have been submitting my lenses and now I am watching to see how my traffic increases and whether stumpedia is listed in stats "Referrers" - I am happy to report that stumpedia is starting to show up already. I am happy about that.
Offline
I think it's great - I hope it takes off!
The main thing that would make it better is the tags issue poddys mentioned. Could you import the meta tags when the link is submitted? That would make life easier.

mulberry - You can submit unlimited keywords per lens/page. Try to use your best judgment in determining keyword relevancy. If you have any doubts about relevancy for a particular keyword, then you probably shouldn't submit it. Remember you can submit multiple pages for the same domain name. So if you have a story on your personal blog about dogs then you should link 'dogs' to the appropriate page on your blog and not your home page.
Where Stumpedia is unique is the fact that it enables registered users to submit sites along with matching keywords and phrases. The relevancy of search results are then ranked and rated by the volunteer community through the ability to vote listings up or down (much like Digg, Mixx and Sphinn)
xtnshun - We're working on some new features to simplify the submission process.
