Anyone else seeing a new template for lenses? So far, liking some of it, but when I look at my own lenses, half the background of the body is orange, the other half white. And all the right hand stuff is at the bottom. Everyone else's lenses look fine (well, as long as the orange isn't _supposed_ to be there. :-) What's up?

I just posted about that in the Help topic. My right column stuff is at the bottom, too. When I look at a first-time viewer view, it's almost correct with some background color problems.

I'm seeing things too but I'll wait and see what's up before I complain beyond here <g>.

Yup, you're right. New template!
And the orange section is part of the new intro module. Edit it to check out the new features.

Looks like the layout's broken ![]()

Yup - looks like the new layout, but it's not quite right yet - I'm sure they'll have it sorted out soon.

So having added the old-new ToC to my lenses, I have two ToC's on them now! Not sure whether to delete the standalone ToC's or wait till things settle down a bit. Better wait.

It makes the contents of the bio really important now, all up front and center as it is. I was planning on doing more individual bios for individual lenses. This will certainly get me moving on that!
I'm not worried about the layout problems (too much). I'm sure they'll get worked out pretty quickly.

Yep -- I saw it today and really like seeing the orange! Great looking -- can't wait to see more of that template and any other one you're all rolling out. Just FABULOUS!

Not sure if it is supposed to be this way or not, but 2 comments come to me immediately:
1. The print looks smaller (maybe too small) on the text sections.
2. To me, having the text sections in half-orange and half-white makes it a bit distracting to the eye.

ugh i really don't like it at all. I have my own table of contents where everything is broke down into categories, and some of my modules (like my beer recipes) doesnt need to be in the main table of contents. I just wish this new thing was an option you can put on if you want it. i don't know, i really really don't like it at all.

I'm pretty sure the half-orange and half-white thing is an error.

it's not supposed to be half white and half orange
hopefully they are still working on it

I gotta say I hate the "explore related links" being placed directly in the middle of my lens page and not just off to the side...
Yes indeed lets encourage people to go to other lenses directly without even finishing the one they are on at the moment..
and a thumbs down for the placement of the lensmasters bio directly at the beginning of the page..
a good day all around

That's the part that's broken. You only seem to see that when viewing your own lenses. Unless someone else is seeing it in all of them? I can see everyone else's lenses without that orange section. But my own show up with that. Weird.
Other things that kind of bug me:
Not sure how I feel about being front and center like that. People aren't generally at my lens because of me. That's not the most important piece of info.
Contents at a glance - There's already a TOC module so I'm not sure why this is here. Not to mention the fact that I have made a conscious decision to _not_ include a TOC on certain lenses and this negates my choice.
Squidoo no longer loves me. :-( So sad.

I agree with that. It's definitely harder for my middle-aged eyeballs to read.
But I'll withhold judgment on the rest until the kinks are tweaked out.

Hey, it's already improving. My right column looks better now.

Hi Susan,
Our designer just mentioned that the problem you ran into (looking at your own lenses) should now be fixed.

with me its not even about the errors, it's just having that contents that irks me. i mean look at my beer drinkers lens and you see how i have that all set up. and how i have a recipe index and now this contents at a glance just puts it all out there. i just really really dont like it. i mean not to sound like a butthead about it, but there was always the option of using that table of contents module so i really dont see a need for that big glaring contents at a glance thing.

There was a problem with my The Beatles Songs lens - the page was split orange/white and the usual top-right parts were on the bottom, but now everything is OK.
I love the new layout/design. It's fresh, it's modern. The content is easy to read and the background colors are nice. My only concern is that "Table of Contents" may not be necessary as it's repetition of what we have in "Contents at Glance" - but it's easy to fix.
Fantastic job, again, Gil & Co!!! Thanks a lot!

Don't panic about the table of contents, y'all. Edit that intro module and look at your choices!

You can turn off the contents at a glance!

Whew, sorry for the panic. *pops open a can of beer* I'm cool now.

That 'contents at a glance bit is sending me insane. I loved my old table of contents. Can I make the new monstrosity f*%k off?
Offline
OK!!! as usual I spoke to quickly.... I see you can turn off the contents etc.
However how about getting rid of the new bar at the top of the content, the bio/build a lens bar.. its distracting... nice for the user to have the content the lensmaster intended to be the thing they see first.
