Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.

2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic, sockpuppet, or link to irrelevant and non-Squidoo sites (includes signatures).
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.

Check your 'Favorites' page - you should see a bunch of them.

Expect to see some major overhauls to Squidcasts and the rest of the Dashboard pages in the next few months.

I get them on Twitter. I didn't know I got them on my favorites page until I just read post 2

SquidCasts on twitter: http://twitter.com/squidcasts
Edit: Let me expand a bit: this is an automated twitter account that will spurt out some of the SquidCasts from Squidoo. You'll get the chance to see work by Lensmasters you've perhaps never heard of...
Oh, and it'll also keep you up-to-date with the latest blogs from Squidoo HQ and LOTD.

Squidcast is a great tool! But how often do you check your favorites page?![]()
I do that very rare:( And someone even don 't know about that... The idea is great, the abilities are amazing...in theory... but when it comes to practice - it's not so good....

Hang in there, it will get better soon.

I don't know what your up to Gil, but I'd like to be able to see more than my 25 most recent casts. A few lensmasters like to cast 2-3 of their lenses a day, and that kind of blocks me from being able to see other people's unless I check my favorites every single day (which i don't).

I'll wait for that time:)
But the system should be changed, cause there is no sense to send the squidcasts now...
But I'll wait:)

well, I sent a squidcast today about an update and at least one person has acknowledged it by visiting the lens and commenting on it.
Good to know that squidcasting is an area that's earmarked for development as it's a pretty good tool!

I like the fact that they're hidden in the favorites page, personally I wouldn't enjoy getting tons of updates to my e-mail or jump out in my face whenever I visit my dashboard ![]()

I appreciate the squidcasts a LOT! I don't look at it as often as I would like to, but I do make it a regular part of my 'rounds' and I like it a LOT! People are doing neat stuff, and updating great pages. Who ever thought of it was brilliant!

I agree, squidcasts are the best. I check them out on a regular basis. It's simply a matter of remembering to click your favorites page to see them. I'd also like to see a larger amount of them available because I'm sure I miss some great lenses when I don't have time to check for a day or two.

I often visit my Dashboard just to see if I have any new Comments or SquidCasts.

I think I should work such a habit for Squidoo as well:)

I check mine quite often. It's a great way to learn more about your fellow squidooers.
I just wish more people would send them out.

Recently when I published a new lens, I did a Squidcast and it got some people visiting the lens before I announced it via my usual emails, etc.

I like squidcasts and I also like the ping feature on the new advanced dashboard. I think I need to check out Twitter, too.

Me too!! I enjoy seeing what people are up to. I'm over there almost every time I get on my dashboard, which is way too many times a day!
Back to AMK's original question, the casts don't happen just because someone updated the lens. You have to actively send one and I know I'm a fan of several people who just never (or rarely ever) do send them out. The reason I try to do so has less to do with my fans (sorry!) and more to do with what happens to them after I send them. Fluff has them in a pipe and sends them in tweets, so they get more exposure than just my fan club. Then I also have them in an RSS feed on my Facebook page and import them into my notes there as well so that they end up in my mini-feed. I'd RSS them onto my blog as well except that, well, I'm already posting about them there as well. :-) I wasn't very aggressive about using the cast feature until I realized just how much exposure they could get.

Personally, I've only sent a handful of casts as I did observe from my very first squidcast that I lost a FEW fans! I hope they'll decide to come back!
