Choosing a Category
Squidoo lenses are organized in categories -- also called topics. The platform's category structure is largely patterned after that of the DMOZ open directory project.
Your top-level category helps visitors find your lens -- it's the first thing Search checks against. And it -- along with the tags you choose -- helps you and others find other lenses like your lens.
When making a lens, consider what the primary topic of the lens is. One way to approach this is to determine what section of a bookstore your lens -- if it were a book -- would be located in.
Don't stress over what category you select initially. You can always choose a new category later, depending on the direction you take your lens.
To change your lens's category:
1. Click on My Lenses
2. Select a lens to edit
3. Click the Edit button next to the category at the bottom of the Lens Contents box
4. Choose a new category
5. Hit the Save button
6. Once you're done with any other lens edits you want to make, select the Publish Now button to make your changes live
