Express Your Appreciation

When you come across a lens that you find particularly interesting and useful, what do you do? Do you bookmark it in your browser? Or do you share the lens with other people you know -- who might be interested in the topic and resources it shares? Here are five ways you can express your appreciation for your favorite lenses... by sharing them with other people.

Contact the Lensmaster
The first thing you should do if you discover a lens that's especially exciting or functional is let the lensmaster know you like it. If the lensmaster has enabled their contact form, look for the Contact the Lensmaster link in the About the Lensmaster portion of the sidebar. Let them know what you liked -- and share links to some of your lenses, as well! You might have some interests in common.

Email It to a Friend
When I read newspapers and magazines, I don't read just for myself. I read for the other people in my life and frequently clip and save articles to give to friends and family. The same is true online. If you find a lens that you think will intrigue a friend, family member or coworker -- or that will help them with something they're involved in -- use the Email link in the toolbar to send them a pointer to the lens. And in the form, let them know why you're recommending it!

Add It to Digg and Delicious
If you haven't checked out Digg and Delicious yet, those social bookmarking services are useful ways to organize your favorite URLs, share online resources with others -- and discover new tools you might not find on your own. If you think a lens is worth sharing with others online, use the Add to Delicious and Digg This links in the tool bar. You'll not just add the lens to those services, you'll give the lens a boost in lensrank.

Add It to Your Lensroll
Another way to highlight the best and brightest lenses is to feature them -- and link to them -- in your own lenses. Particularly if you stumble across lenses that cover topics similar to the subjects of your lenses, consider adding them to the lensroll of a specific lens. And when you do, contact the lensmaster to let them know you've done so -- perhaps they'll add your lens to their lensroll!

Add It to Your Favorites
Finally, if you have favorite lenses that aren't necessarily lens specific, you can add them to your favorites within Squidoo writ large. On the My Account page, if you choose to Share My Squidoo under your preferences, other Squidoo readers will be able to check out your favorite lenses via your lensmaster profile page.

Zonks! The Learning Library is being closed and remodeled. Keep an eye out for the new and helpful front door that will be replacing it soon!
