How to Transfer a Group
Are you ready to pass the torch? Here are some tips for selecting a new groupmaster and instructions for completing the transfer.
I want to transfer a group. How do I pick a new groupmaster?
Lensmaster and groupmaster Christene offers these tips:
"When you're ready to pass along a group, you need to decide who will take over as Groupmaster and accept the group into their care forevermore. They should probably have a lens or more in the group already so they have some vested interest. Do you have someone in mind already? Super. If not, just head on over to the forums at SquidU and start a thread to let people know it's up for grabs."
Ok, I have a new groupmaster. Now what?
To transfer ownership of a group:- Log in to your account and click on the My Groups tab in your dashboard.
- Find the group you want to transfer and click on "manage."
- Click on "manage members" to access the membership management page for your group.
- If the new groupmaster is a current member, click "promote" after their name to make them an administrator. If not, enter their username or email address in the form at the bottom of the page and click "save."
- You are now ready to transfer the group. Go back to your dashboard and click on "transfer a lens" in the right column in the Tools menu.
- Select the group name you wish to transfer, and enter the new groupmaster's email address. Insert a note if you wish, and click "send."
- You're done! The new groupmaster will receive an email asking for their approval to make the transfer. At this time, if you no longer wish to receive updates, you can have them demote you from an administrator.
